Jessica Means Announces Campaign for Tennessee State Representative in District 1

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. — Jessica Means, a Sullivan County mom, farmer, small business owner, and county commissioner, announced today that she is running for the Tennessee House of Representatives in District 1, pledging to bring steady, family-first leadership and a renewed focus on showing up for the people she represents.

Means is a lifelong Tennesseean and has been married to her husband, Matt, for more than 18 years. Together, they are raising a large family rooted in faith, responsibility, and service. The Means family also owns and operates M-Squared Construction, where Jessica brings a real-world understanding of budgets, accountability, and what it takes to make decisions that work in practice; not just on paper.

Currently serving on the Sullivan County Commission, Means has built a reputation as a prepared, engaged leader who stays involved beyond the meeting room. In addition to her public service, she homeschools her children, teaches exercise classes, and volunteers regularly in youth and community activities.

“This campaign isn’t about noise or political theatrics,” Means said. “It’s about families, schools, and local control. It’s about making sure decisions are made with care and common sense, and that people know their representative is paying attention.”

The campaign will focus on issues that matter most to Sullivan County families, including education outcomes, cost of living pressures, support for small businesses, and keeping communities strong and safe.
